Title: Worse Than Death
Author: [livejournal.com profile] daasgrrl
Pairing: gen
Length: 5,200
Rating: PG-13 for themes
Warnings: none
Verse: BBC Sherlock (Red Dwarf fusion)
Author's summary: In which Sherlock begins his day dead, and things just go downhill for him from there.

Reccer's comments: This fic is a true delight from beginning to end. I must confess I’ve never seen an episode of Red Dwarf in my life. I only started reading this fic because it was written by [livejournal.com profile] daasgrrl, yet another gorgeous writer in this fandom brimming with excellent authors. As always her language is highly inventive and flows easily, unfolding the tale with many witty sentences.

Luckily, you can be as ignorant as I with regard to Red Dwarf and yet enjoy this fic for the protagonists are introduced quite deftly by the author. It’s enough to say Sherlock, Mrs Hudson, Molly and Greg aren’t exactly their usual selves. I kept snorting with laughter, actually grasping my sides, as I gradually discovered what was actually going on. As ever, only John is his own steady self, stuck in a space ship light years away from earth with not a normal human being in sight. So, all pretty much as usual.

But then a certain individual occupying a minor position in the Space Corps arrives in a sleek rocket, bearing along a little extra, and everything deteriorates pretty fast into a fest of gruesome angst.

Title: Untitled
Artist: archiaart (Archia)
Pairing: Sherlock Holmes/John Watson
Rating: G
Verse: BBC
Author's summary: I won’t tell you that I love you, but I will show you every day.

Reccer's comments: Not the piece I had initially chosen to rec (and it was hard to choose only one – in fact, take this as an artist rec) but this was posted yesterday and it was too cute not to mention. Some of my favorite moments in the show are the glimpses we get of Sherlock and John being all domestic at Baker Street, which is probably the reason why this piece caught my eye. A barefooted Sherlock in his PJs and dressing gown, holding two mugs of tea while bestowing a tender kiss on top of John’s head. An intimate and heartwarming moment.

If you like the artist’s style take a look at the “fanart” tag on their Tumblr, there are some awesome pieces. Some cute and fluffly, some very NSFW, others… more than a bit weird, but still stunning. A couple of favorites: Matrix!lock (because they look so dashing with their guns and shades, and Sherlock gets to keep a very dramatic coat) and octo!john (which is apparently a thing on Tumblr? I don’t know, really. But still, it’s quite gorgeous, it looks both eerily beautiful and soothing with its hues of blue). The artist also illustred some fanfics, a few quite popular too I think, so go take a look if you haven’t already!
