We're still looking for reccers for July -- if you're interested, please drop a comment in the sign-up thread.

We welcome recs for completed fan works (fic, art, vids, podcasts) based on all versions of Sherlock Holmes, including crossovers. Newly posted, old favorites, overlooked gems, beloved themes -- they're all welcome.

We have five reccers per month to give enough people a chance to participate and to offer a healthy number of recs every month as well as a variety of reading and viewing tastes. Note that you need to be a member of the com for us to give you posting access when July begins.

Please let us know, in a comment here or a PM, if you have any questions or requests.

ETA: We have our five reccers for July! Thanks to everyone for signing up.

Title: The Contemplative Life
Artist: greyfinch
Pairing: Gen
Length: n/a
Rating: G
Warnings: none
Verse: ACD
Author's summary: n/a
Reccer's comments: I have to admit that I tend to look for representations of Sherlock Holmes (and other characters) that are not inspired by prominent visual representations such as actors. Not that I know all actors that ever played Holmes or all illustrations, but this one is nicely unique.
The text is such a great way to show Holmes in contemplation/thinking his thinky thoughts. The different layers and fonts take some time to decipher, but if there is one person who can think them at once and still make sense of them, it surely is Holmes.
Last but not least, I really like the composition of this artwork, the colours, the contrast between Holmes and the text. And the fact that he props up his foot against the frame ♥
Enjoy!

And while I'm at it, here's another art rec before the month is over :)

Title: The Omnivorous Reader
Artist: RileyStark
Pairing: Gen
Length: n/a
Rating: G
Warnings: none
Verse: ACD, Granada
Author's summary: “I am an omnivorous reader with a strangely retentive memory for trifles.” - SH
Brett-Holmes done in Paget style.
Reccer's comments: I love the above quote. And Paget's illustrations from The Strand. I don't know the Granada series, but this has such an ACD feeling to it. It almost looks like an old photograph. And I really adore the way Holmes holds his pipe.
