Title: A Question of Identity
Author: VolceVoice
Pairing: Sherlock/John
Length: 43,432, in 13 chapters
Rating:T (PG)
Warnings: None
Verse: BBC Sherlock
Author's summary: The observations of a brilliant, amnesiac murder witness force John to rethink his assumptions about Sherlock, himself, and the definition of love. Meanwhile, a murderer is still on the loose . . .
Reccer's comments: Need a long story to read during the season? Try this one! Inserting an original character as a significant character into a fanfic is a very tricky thing. This story does an interesting job of straddling the line with “Jane” and the various mysteries surrounding her. What could have been an enormous Mary Sue situation instead develops into an intriguing plot device with characters that feel like they just happen to have wandered in from their own novel/show/universe. In addition, it features a great Lestrade, a Sally Donovan I wish we’d seen in Series 2, a variety of twists and turns, and an intriguing interpretation of how things might have turned out after Series 1. Definitely Jossed by Series 2, but well worth the visit.
