Title: Dragon Heartstring in Ebony, Nine Inches, Quite Stubborn
Author: what_alchemy
Pairing: Gen., could be read as John Watson/Sherlock Holmes
Length: 2444 words
Rating: M
Verse: Sherlock BBC and Harry Potter cross-over
Author's summary: John doesn't know what he's found beneath Sherlock's floorboards, but he'll be damned if he's going to give it up.

Reccer's comments: Normally I'm not one for crossovers, but this sweet little piece effortlessly weaves the two worlds together. At the same time it's as much about John dealing with the after effects of the Reichenbach Fall, as it is about Sherlock's secret other life. I love the scene between John and Sherlock's mother, and for a fic that has a sad sort-of mood too it, it manages to be quite witty as well. John has a serious potty-mouth in this, and the "guest appearance" at the end (and well, the end in general) is great!

Excerpt: In Sherlock’s room, underneath the floorboards of his bed, John finds a long, slim parcel wrapped in a blue and black striped scarf. John unravels the scarf to reveal a beautiful box, cherrywood or something such. His hands hover over it — it feels important, like he should give this moment weight. Sherlock was hiding something in this box, possibly something Mycroft wanted. Before finding it, John overturned the sitting room, this bedroom, the kitchen cupboards, and found nothing Mycroft should have come snooping about after. Regular Sherlocky things. Antlers and canned haggis and vials of spinal fluid. But this. John’s heart stumbles.
