Artist's summary: Painted entirely over Livestream last night, you can view the full recording [link] at my new Youtube channel. Thank you very much to all who stayed and watched! I have always loved all imagery of Sherlock Holmes playing the violin, I find it very striking and it's one of his most recognizable and interesting character traits imo. This piece is inspired by BBC's Sherlock series (I cannot possibly recommend this show more, go watch it on Netflix Instant!)

Reccer's comments: I haven't seen many art recs made, which is a shame as there are so many amazingly talented artists in this fandom. This stunning digital, from-scratch portrait captures Sherlock in a private moment depicting the intimate and little-explored relationship between him and his music. The warm colours and tactile, luxurious feeling of the clothing evoke a sense of homeliness and comfort that we rarely associate with the character.

I recommend, for a full appreciation of the piece and of the artist, to watch the time-lapse version of the process video. It is fascinating to see how the artist sketches out the main shapes, then develops the colours and lighting and reveals the bone structure and other fine details.

I'm amazed that this hasn't been recommended before! It's such a stunning piece of art! It's one of the very few fanarts where I actually bought a print because I love it so much.

I didn't find the artist listed in the spreadsheet of recs, so yes, it is high time that she receives some recognition. I just sat and looked through her gallery for like an hour, no exaggeration. So impressive!

I also thank you for this rec. I had bought a magnet & some cards from Deviant Art months back, but watching her create the illo from scratch was mesmerizing. Now I'm awaiting arrival of a skin for my new laptop. Alicia's work is simply gorgeous.
