Author's summary: (A clip from the alternate-first-meeting ficlet): The weather becomes muggy and uncomfortably warm. John shoves paint-sealed windows up and steals a desktop fan from the shared institutional kitchen. At 1.54 am he lies on his three foot bed, toes spread to catch the fan’s feeble artificial breeze. Someone in a nearby flat is playing a tango on the violin. They are good at it. By turns arrogant and seductive. For the first time in days, John shuts his eyes and lets his senses concentrate on a single stimulus.
Reccer's comments: Absolutely gorgeous use of motion and light in this romantic dreamscape scene of Sherlock and John dancing together in a sunlit room that is the inside of a violin (inspired by those beautiful photographs of the interiors of stringed instruments and how they resemble mysterious rooms). The sense of peace and intimacy, the expression on Sherlock’s face is breathtaking.
