Sherlock here has dark depths, but John is definitely a match for him: he's the opposite of a weak victim. The story includes an intriguing exploration of what, exactly, a sociopath might find irresistible about John.

One thing I especially appreciate about spikeface’s style is her sparsity in terms of explanation. She leaves clues about the emotional details of the situation and leaves the interpretation up to the reader. It’s a lovely effect, very like a minimalist painting.
