Its characterization is phenomenal, to the point that this immediately became my head canon for the movies as soon as I read it. It's funny and warm and affectionate and all-around delightful, with a fantastic Stamford as a bonus. This feels like the definitive treatment of Jude Law's Watson to me, and this lovely fic is like being invited into his friendship with Holmes.
