Oh, really? I didn't know about the copy right thing. Should maybe research that... It's not really been a problem before. We don't mind people using different rating systems as long as it's clear what's meant by it. I just didn't get the "everyone" at first. Like I said in the other post, "general audiences" should be fine.
I'm looking for a mystrade fic. It's a WIP. In the last installment Lestrade's daughter is kidnapped. Mycroft breaks things off because he feels he is a risk to Lestrade. If this is not the right place to ask this question, I apologize. I've been driving myself nuts trying to find it. Thanks!
Sorry, it's indeed not the right place. Like it says on the profile and in the rules, we're not a comm for searching for fics. But you can find links to the comms Sherlock-search and Holmes-finders in the list of our associates (on the profile).
1) Will the open recs always be on the last weekend of the month, or on a more irregular schedule? Just wondering if I should put up a reminder for myself on those weekends or not.
2) Would it be possible to make the open recs the entire weekend, rather than just on Sundays? I know usually one day or the other is busy and having both days as an option would be wonderful. Again, just a thought.
I want to have them on the same weekend every month, but I think in the middle might be better, since the reccers tend to get more active as the month draws to a close. I need to talk to Unovis, but we'll let you know.
If I had remembered on Saturday the post would have been up then ;). So, yeah, if we can manage to be better mods it'll be both days. Though... It does stay open, you can still make recs on Monday if you want.
Even a spoiler-phobe like myself is noticing that possibilities for Sherlock spoilers has grown with the beginning of filming. So I'm wondering if the mods have a policy regarding S3 spoilers? For example, with there a be a ban on S3-inspired works before the airing, or will such works be welcome, but all info must be placed behind a spoiler cut? Or will there be no restrictions?
I'm curious because I am deciding which comms will be "safe" for me to continue following, or if I'll need to temporarily (and with regret) unfriend until after I see S3. I'm not after pushing you in one direction, just wondering what your policy would be.
Regardless of what you decide I appreciate your hard work and am a big fan of this comm!
Thanks for the reminder! I'm a spoiler phobe myself, so there's definitely going to be a "spoilers belong behind cuts" policy. (And then I'm just going to hope nothing'll jump out at me when I look at comments...) I'm about to run out the door, but I'll make a post about it soon.
This is more of a heads-up than a question; I've only made two recs this month, but I can't make the third because my computer died last week. Kaput. I'm posting this from work, but I'm refraining from personal stuff as much as possible. Sorry.
Loved doing Recs for May. I actually had trouble picking twelve!
Just realised that my recs for, "Take Me To Bed (Or Lose Me Forever)" and "Say My Name" both should have had Genre: Het tagged on them and it's now too late for me to fix it. Could someone add it please?
Hello, I would like to do a series of recommendations for old (pre-1980) movies and TV shows about Holmes, but I'm unsure if that would be allowed? They are technically fan-works, though professionally made. They are not widely popular films/shows within the internet fandom at the moment, and I want to hopefully introduce more fans of "Sherlock" to some wonderful older productions, which provided inspiration for the newest incarnation of our favourite detective.
Please let me know if this would be a good fit for this comm.
Ha... that is a difficult one to answer. Yes, on the one hand, if not written by ACD every work can sort of be seen as an homage of a Sherlock fan to the original and could count as the work of a fan. But both these old movies/shows and new ones like Sherlock made other people money and as such are a whole different ball game than fan works only posted to AO3 or vimeo.
We've denied a similar request before, when it was about a Neil Gaiman story. To be honest, I personally sort of like the idea. But if we allowed this we'd have to remodel comm rules and those posts could not count as "normal" recs but would rather be primers for a relatively unknown "verse". Or something like it. I've pitted the idea to my co-mod but I really can't say right now what we're going to end up deciding. She tends to have good counter arguments ;).
I'd like to request two new pairing tags: irene adler/ofc, irene adler/omc for a fic I want to rec. Two possible alternatives: irene adler/oc or irene adler/various
Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you again. I had originally planed on making this happen. But as I said it would necessitate changing the rules of the comm and I've sort of not gotten around to that so far. I've been really busy RL wise, so I've sort of not had the energy. Also I'm quite sure a lot of people wouldn't like it and I wasn't really in the mood to start of a huge discussion. So... it's not completely off the table but not happening right now.
Yikes, sorry about the late reply! I guess it's moot now, but for future reference: Yes, you can post whenever you want to. Theoretically you could post all your recs in one day. We just ask to space them out more or less evenly throughout the month if possible.
What are your thoughts on having a monthly round-up post with a quick listing of everything that's been recced in the month? Or would that be redundant? I was just thinking, sometimes I want to have a look over what all has been recced, without having to scroll through several pages.
Oh, wow, thanks for the offer! But wouldn't that defeat the purpose of you not having to read through all the recs? ^^ Anyway, let me get back to you on that. I'll write you a pm. Might be a few days though, I'm on a trip and won't be home till late on Sunday.
