Reccer's comments: This fic was so well done that it made me cry. It's a beautiful character study, and a very moving portrait of John's grief. Cat!Sherlock is perfect, and watching John try to heal from Sherlock's death through looking after his feline namesake is unexpected and poignant.  It's a unique and emotionally honest take on post-Reichenbach, and it's really stuck with me.

You're very welcome! I'm really glad you liked it too. :D michi_thekiller is an amazing writer. She also wrote the fandom-famous You Give Me Fever and sequels, which are very different from this story, but some of her sentences and images still make me catch my breath years later.

I'd never read this one before, but it was really heartfelt. Lovely. And I liked that the author left it without trying to get into Sherlock's return, but just let it be about John and his grief and the way it helped him so much to have another living, feeling creature to take care of and share space with. Thanks for the rec :)

My pleasure! I'm glad you liked it too. :) The ending was one of my favorite parts; I think ending it before Sherlock came back really added a lot of emotional resonance to the fic. It's a bittersweet ending, because while we know Sherlock's still alive, John doesn't, but he's still being brave and starting to heal a little bit. (And whenever I read this, I get a kick out of imagining the real Sherlock's likely jealousy of cat!Sherlock after he comes back.)
