Reccer's comments: This missing scene fic for TSoT is keenly observed and beautifully written and quietly tragic. Sherlock teaching John to dance is certainly ripe ground for fic, but holyfant puts her own delicate spin on it. The attention to detail and the weight of what's left unsaid make this as intimate and careful as a held breath, and Sherlock's belated self-awareness of his own desires is heartbreaking.  There's so much story and knowledge of the characters packed into just a few thousand words.  It's phenomenal work.

I loved this! Holyfant's "The Fabric of Life" is one of my most favorite Sherlock fics and it's good to read a relatively recent story by her. What a lovely, heartbreaking story. I said this in a comment on the story, but this is my new headcanon for their dance lesson. Absolutely perfect.
