Title: No Place Like Home (or, Return to Royston Vasey)
Author: daasgirl
Pairing: Mycroft/Sherlock/John, past Mycroft/Sherlock
Length: ca. 15,000
Rating: Explicit
Warnings: The author's warning's are pretty much spot on, so I'll just C&P them here: May be offensive/squicky/disturbing on a multitude of fronts. I was going to try to warn individually, but I felt I would only overlook something. While notionally a comedy, The League of Gentlemen is dark, twisted, and frequently tasteless, so while I don't think there's anything worse than already found in the show, kindly read at your own risk. Fic-wise, none of the characters suffer any permanent damage, although John may beg to differ.
Verse: Sherlock BBC, cross-over with League of Gentlemen
Author's summary: In which John accompanies Mycroft and Sherlock on a trip North, and encounters more than he ever bargained for.

Reccer's comments: I don't know where to start with this rec other than to say it's probably the only Sherlock fanfic that has made me actually squeal with delight. And laugh so hard I thought I was going to get a nosebleed. It is, quite frankly, absolutely effing hilarious. However, it's one of those crossovers where you absolutely have to have seen both foundation shows or you're never going to know what's going on or why anyone's behaving why they do.

The premise of the story is that Mycroft and Sherlock were born and raised in Royston Vasey and they're going home for a visit on the occasion of their mother's birthday. John is manipulated into going along. The trip up is a string of amusing misapprehensions as John tries to figure out the increasingly strange behaviour of the brothers. But the arrival at Royston Vasey is where the story really takes off, in my opinion. If you've ever wondered what a showdown between Mycroft and Hilary Briss would look like, then you have to read this story. All the Royston Vasey characters, in particular, are wonderfully done and the little stop at the Denton's is a real highlight. The focus is on the characters that Gatiss played (and almost all his recurring characters make an appearance), though Barbara and Edward and Tubbs are there as well.

If the threesome doesn't float your boat, you can just stop reading once they get to Mummy Holmes' house; all the smut is at the end of the fic. But the rest is gorgeous enough on its own that it's a wonderfully enjoyable read without it. And if you've never seen The League of Gentlemen, I strongly recommend it if you have a wicked/twisted/dark sense of humour.

I started squeeing upon reading the title. I have a weird crush on Val Denton (and Mark Gatiss in prosthetic boobies). I can't wait to read this.

I don't know what it is, but I would do Mark Gatiss as Val in front of my mother.

If that gif is too much to take, please fee free to remove it. It seemed appropriate considering the twisted nature of the fic rec. :D I'm enjoying the story SO MUCH, by the way.

ALSO - I noticed in The Hounds of Baskerville, when John is sulking in the graveyard and Sherlock comes to find him to tell him he's just got one, we can read the left part of the name on a headstone, and I'm willing to conclude that it says Royston Vasey. Been looking for a screen cap but couldn't find one. So, that happened.

OOO! Found it. It says 'ROYSTO-" right under John's adorable little bottom.

I confess never having seen TLoG and yet this fic amused me to no end. But then, the author is a very, very good writer.
