Reccer's comments: This is a phenomenal piece of writing.  It's one of the best extended metaphors I've seen, and it has a dreamlike quality that makes it seem almost surreal.  At several points, the language was so lovely that I had to stop and savor it before moving on, and the way John and Sherlock's relationship is written feels pitch-perfect. The imagery is vivid and poetic, the prose is oblique and unique and so skillful, and the John POV is excellent.  This fic is an underappreciated gem.

I'm glad you know this one, because it's SO GOOD, MY GOD. I missed it the first time around because I didn't watch Sherlock until after TRF had aired, so when I stumbled across it on AO3, it made my eyes widen in wonder. It deserves a bazillion hits. I usually only read BBC fic, but I'm going to have to go check out their other stuff now. <3
