Reccer's comments: This story is my standard for kid fic done right.  It skips straight past the usual pitfalls of the genre to create something very moving and lovely.  The writing is a master class in how to communicate character and evoke emotion without ever edging into the overt or heavy-handed, and the love story dawns slowly like the titular light.
