Author's Summary: It occurs to John one morning, as he's moving a thumb out of the microwave and into the refrigerator, that perhaps the time has come for a serious discussion about house rules.

Reccer's Comments: This story has everything that I look for in a well crafted comedy, and more besides. Although it's fairly predictable that the House Rules in question serve as headings for each section of this story, each rule is illustrated to masterful effect. Very few pieces of Sherlock fic have managed to make me laugh out loud, and this one gets me every single time. As an added bonus, the first-time sex scene is one of my absolute favorites in the fandom; it's awkward, hilarious, hot, and absolutely convincing. I reread this piece on a semi-regular basis, which says a lot.

It's one of the ones I keep on my permanent (but prone-to-switching-up-for-variety) rec post, here (http://irisbleufic.livejournal.com/222169.html). Reccing isn't necessarily a hobby I had in previous fandoms, as such, but there's so much extraordinarily good fic here that I found the idea of taking it up very appealing! The number of stories I reread with any kind of regularity is quite small, but House Rules is on it :)

It speaks partly to the experience of been there, done that (re: house rules, in flatmate situations - I really have been), and partly to the fact that this story makes the premise work with Sherlock and John :)
