Reccer's Comments: This is such a playful, light-hearted vid that it seemed perfect to ring in the new year. I really enjoy the matching of lyrics and images in this creation, particularly because the unusual and evocative similes in the song -- "as neat as a word," "as cool as a tree," "as light as play," "as grand as a whale" -- inspired the vidder to find some hilariously appropriate visual matches and to utilize a lot of shots that I have rarely seen in other vids.

The theme of the song and the vid -- that here we have a character who contains multitudes -- becomes a delightful celebration of Jeremy Brett's endlessly expressive, groundbreaking portrayal of a character who was so often previously imagined as rather a cold fish. Here, instead, we see the whirlwind of emotions and possibilities that Sherlock Holmes can contain.

Plus, it's just fun :)

I first looked at the vid when you posted your rec but I never got around to commenting ^^"

There are such a lot of moments in it that make me smile and giggle. In particular, Holmes on the floor chucking his files about, and the moment when he abruptly exits through the window ^^

Also the juxtaposition of the line "Royal as a Queen" with the King of Bohemia - I love the fact it's immediately followed by Holmes laughing. It kind of suggests the line was the thought going through Holmes' head ^_^
