Author's summary: After being convicted of the murder of Sherlock Holmes, Dr. John Watson is sentenced to confinement, therapy, and to the constant companionship of a hologram of his victim to aid in his rehabilitation. While John remains uncertain of his guilt, Sherlock is only too happy to engage in the mystery of his own murder to try and discover why he died and how events set his path to cross with the war ravaged stranger he's now posthumously bound to.

Reccer's comments: A space AU with an interesting murder mystery, fantastic character dynamics and classic sci-fi themes on where the line for sentient "life" is. There's also an excellent sequel that's full of twists, but it's still a WIP.

That was not perfect (obviously needed a beta to lightly comb through for typos and too convoluted sentences) but the premise is brilliant and the mix of angst and projection (in both senses of the word) works beautifully. What a great rec!

It's an excellent start to the series and the sequel is quite twisty. I especially like John's characterization: it reflects the talented man who comes to love Sherlock, but is darker than fanon generally presents. For example, his indifference to posthuman rights until it becomes personal, his lack of friends, etc.

The SPAG issues are noticeable, but not so bad to throw one out of the story much (ymmv). As was said above, a competent beta could easily catch these and provide that final polish.
