Free August, Open Recs Post

Greetings, all.

Because we've had too few reccers for August, we won't have individual recs this month. Instead, we'll put up weekly Open Recs posts, for you to post recs in comments -- beginning today!

Please make your recs in comments to this post. As always, we welcome recs for any version of Sherlock Holmes, for fic, podfic, vids, and art. WIPs are allowed in Open Recs, as are requests for specific or general types of works.



We're also open for September signups now -- sign up here. As usual, we're looking for a variety of reccers to make between three and twelve recs a month. Reccers should wait three months before taking a turn reccing again, and be members of the comm (so we can give you posting access).

Relationships: John/Sherlock, brief John/OFC
Summary: He couldn’t remember a time when he hadn’t known that Sherlock was coming, just like he couldn’t remember not knowing that Mummy’s eyes were brown and Daddy’s were blue. One day, there would be Sherlock and he would be John’s family, and his best friend.

Summary: Sherlock, a long-time sufferer of insomnia, is forced to share a bed with John at a hotel while on a case. To his astonishment, he finds that spending the night next to John helps him sleep and becomes determined to maneuver himself back into John's bed.

Summary: John can't seem to stop touching Sherlock. He can push the anger away, but sometimes he just needs to take Sherlock's pulse again. Slight angst, case-fic, post-Reichenbach.

Part of a series, but you do not need to have read the first two parts. What I liked about this fic was its depth and subtlety, referring to things like Holmes' fear that Watson will leave him for a woman, skirting the issue of Holmes' recreational drug use, Holmes' longing for a more public acknowledgement of their relationship, and the nature of family bonds and loyalty. Really well done story.

Summary: Sherlock Holmes has a number of bad habits, but Watson has put up with all of them for years without objection. That may not continue, which is an inconvenient realization to have right before an interesting – but possibly too personally relevant – case.
