Date: 2013-06-22 03:31 pm (UTC)It's an arresting, well-crafted look at Sherlock and addiction, from drugs to John. There's a brief bdsm passage that I sailed over, so I can't say how that fits into the behavioral picture, but the rest I solidly enjoyed.

Date: 2013-06-22 03:34 pm (UTC)The Negligence of Angels (23463 words) by wordybirdy
Rating: Explicit
Relationships: Sherlock Holmes/John Watson
Series: Part 8 of From Trifle to Infinity
Summary: When Holmes and Watson follow up on the callow trail of a multiple murderer, they uncover a deal more than they bargained for. And in matters of the heart, the two must each lend a gentle shoulder.
And! Speaking of
Title: In a Family Way
Recipient:
Author: [redacted]
Characters/Pairings: Holmes/Watson, Mrs Hudson, OCs
Rating: R
Warnings: Mentions of depression
Summary: After the events of The Empty House, Holmes invites Watson to move back into 221 Baker Street. Watson does so, and brings along his two-year-old-daughter.
I just loved how Holmes finds his way to fit into the ready-made family, and Watson's reaction.

Title: A Man of Good Repute
Recipient:
Author: [redacted]
Oevre: ACD Canon
Pairing: Holmes/OMC, some discussion of Holmes/Watson
Word count: 3000+
Rating: Mature
Warnings: homophobic attitudes consonant with the attitudes of the time, angst
Summary: Watson becomes aware that Holmes has had indecent liaisons with young men.
So often in H/W fics, it is posited that Watson is bisexual, but I thought this was a great, realistic, generous look at how a heterosexual Watson would handle finding out that Holmes is an 'invert'.
------
And a Ritchiverse one:
Title: Beautiful Surfaces
Recipient:
Author: [redacted]
Characters/Pairings: John Watson/Sherlock Holmes, John Watson/Mary Morstan, Mycroft Holmes
Rating: R
Warnings: Mild violence, implied child abuse, sexual content, temporary character death
Summary: Mycroft Holmes considered himself to be the only person in Sherlock's life that knew him completely. He was spectacularly wrong.
I enjoyed so much seeing Holmes' childhod in this and how it helped shape him into the man he became. It's especially a good exploration of the relationship between the two Holmes brothers. And there are some wonderful passages written in the action style of the movie, seeing the action in telegraph style before it happens.
------
And finally, a Granada one:
Title: A Priori
Recipient:
Author: [redacted]
Characters/Pairings: Holmes/Watson
Rating: Mature
Summary: A missing scene from Granada’s “The Priory School”. For Holmes the resolution of the kidnapping of Lord Saltire is cause to celebrate. But for Watson, a day filled with death and betrayal has awakened echoes of a past best forgotten.
An established relationship piece, with some lovely hurt/comfort.

Really gorgeous, quietly aching prose.
Graceless (http://holmestice.livejournal.com/228038.html) (BBC, Sherlock/John, soft R?)
Delicate, excellent language.
We All Do Silly Things (http://holmestice.livejournal.com/230878.html) (BBC, Molly/Irene, PG-13?)
Brilliant Molly-voice.
Casualties (http://holmestice.livejournal.com/232228.html) (ACD, Holmes/Watson, PG)
Epistolary fic; Holmes's voice is really perfect, ranging from biting-sharp to quite tender.

Sleekit (BBC; Lestrade/Molly; PG-13). So sweet and just... :D :D :D

A fusion with the Matthew Swift novels, but no prior knowledge is needed.
