Author's Summary: Prompt - Sherlock is intersexed and identifies himself as a man. His ambiguous genitalia and the history of his sexuality and identity are what have kept him from being close to people romantically, particularly John. John finds out or is told, and it really is all fine. (This is similar to a previous prompt, but that prompt said "Sherlock has both female and male genitalia, he is intersexed," and that's not what intersexed means for humans.)

Reccer's Comments: In addition to being one of the best kink-meme fills I've ever read, this piece takes on delicate territory with exquisite sensitivity and flawless knowledge/research. I've read quite a number of genderqueer Sherlock pieces by now, and this is the one that I keep coming back to because a) of how spot-on in character it is for both John and Sherlock, and b) it contains one of the most compelling, right-feeling portrayals of the Holmes family that I've ever seen. The sex scene is equal parts hot, down-to-earth, and tender. In short, I believe in every word of this story.

My goal for this month is to rec excellent pieces that for some reason never get recced anywhere. I've collected so many! Most of the pieces I'll be reccing are probably old in comparison to the stuff that's turning up now (with the exception of my first rec, Fruit On Offer, which is pretty new as ristrettoette's stuff goes), at least if you go by when they were written (i.e. last year)!
