Reccer's comments: Another oldie but a goodie - a gorgeous gorgeous piece of hurt/comfort(ish) which riffs off the ACD canon (which is where, of course, it gets its title). One of the first fics that I read in this fandom and the reason why I haven't tried my own hand at writing anything approaching this particular story line -viridian_violet really said it all, far better than I could! As a bonus, there's also gorgeous art for this fic by chibitoaster in the comments below...
