Title:The One Fixed Point
Author:
autumnatmidnite
Pairing: Holmes/Watson
Length: 9067
Rating: PG
Warnings: none
Verse: ACD Canon. Very much so.
Author's summary: Post retirement fic. Watson is summoned to Sussex to join Holmes in one last investigation, but as things progress, the dear doctor begins to suspect something is amiss with his companion ...
Reccer's comments: This is one of my personal “golden oldies” (not that old, really, but it was pre-Sherlock and that makes it seem like ages) to which I love to return from time to time. Especially when I’m once again working myself into frustration over the ending ACD presented us with in canon. But the good thing about it is that he gave us ample room to play, and this fic proves that the very facts that can be so angsty and frustrating may be transformed into a (still somewhat angsty, but very hopeful) story that not only satisfies the reader, but very likely also two lonely fictional characters who should not be separated by theirheartless brilliant creator.
In short, it’s a heart-warming fix-it in which not all is sugar and candies, but it really doesn’t have to be.
