Title: Holmes on campus [Also on dA.]
Artist: Windmaedchen
Pairing: Gen
Rating: G
Warnings: N/A
Verse: ACD Books
Artist's summary: To console my heart … some young(ish) Holmes with dark, heavy eyebrows, running around the university campus, preparing his great mind for his professional career ahead. :3
Reccer's comments: This is a digital drawing in greyscale. The picture is stylised—I suppose you could describe it as a cartoon-like style—and it suggests a blend between a formal, posed portrait and a candid photograph—if such a thing had been possible at the time Holmes was a student. We see a handsome young man clutching his books but looking off to the side at something or someone that has caught his interest. He’s studious but the outside world fascinates him too.
The picture is beautiful but I think the main appeal for me is the open, optimistic expression on Holmes’ face. He’s not quite sure yet what he’s going to do with his life but he’s prepared to welcome in whatever or whoever may come his way. It does rather complicated things to my heart.
