Title: The Forensic and Not His Wife
Artist: kennichka
Pairing: Gen, Anderson & Donovan
Length: N/A
Rating: Not rated (but is SFW)
Warnings: None
Verse: Sherlock BBC
Artist's summary: Inspiration: 'The Moneylender and his Wife' by Quentin Matsys: [link]
I love art of Northern Renaissance, and this painting is my favourite. Anderson and Sally Donovan at their work place. Why nobody likes them? They are so lovely! Also you can see other familiar faces and familiar things from every episodes of 'Sherlock'. Hope you'll find them all
Reccer's comments: The artwork speaks for itself. If you look at the original piece, you can see that this wasn't just a matter of re-drawing the main characters and editing them in over a pasted background. The artist has actually repainted the entire image in extraordinary detail, adding in Sherlock canon references from every episode of the first two series, includinga paw print from The Hound of Baskerville, the gingerbread man from The Reichenbach Fall, and the vial with the poisoned pill from A Study in Pink. I'll leave the rest for you to find! The likenesses of all of the characters (see if you can spot Sherlock, John, and even Lestrade) are astoundingly accurate while remaining true to the style. This is just a fantastically creative homage to this wonderful series, one which bears visiting and revisiting just like the original episodes.
(P.S. To make this even more amazing, the artist has actually done (or is doing) an entire series of Sherlock fanart inspired by classic masterpieces, including a Picasso Mycroft, a Van Gogh Sherlock & John, and an ancient Greek Irene, Sherlock & John. Check them out at her Deviant Art gallery.)
