Title: I Prefer to Text
Author: impulsereader
Pairing: Gen
Length: 5117
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Verse: Sherlock BBC
Author's summary: John has tried pretty much everything he can think of to stop people texting him that they’re Sherlock Holmes back from the grave and none of it has worked.

Reccer's comments: While it has the same title as another amazing fic, let it be known that this one's very very different. Switching off between John and Sherlock, the fic follows what happens after The Fall when Sherlock doesn't want to lose touch with John. But how to contact John while making sure someone doesn't shoot the man in the head? Well, text him the truth but make sure he doesn't believe you're Sherlock. I'm not sure if I can pinpoint any specific reason I liked this fic because I loved the whole darn thing so much.

Title: Buthal
Author: JessamyGriffith
Pairing: Sherlock/John
Length: 21768 words
Rating: Teen
Warnings: Some violence and gore
Verse: BBC Sherlock AU
Author's summary: Just as every story requires a villain, it also needs a hero. Every fairy tale ought to have magical curses. And every good legend must have a man fighting a monster.

But monsters, like men, come in many shapes and many sizes, and it is not always easy to tell which is which.

A twisted fairy tale. Here be giants.

Reccer's comments: This is a highly unusual story, but it is so well-done and so well-written that I can almost guarantee that you'll be glad you read it. Unless, perhaps, you shy away from creature fics, but even then I would encourage you to give it a try, since it's very different from any other story of the genre that I've read.

It's not readily apparent how the story relates to Sherlock at first, but that is cleared up soon enough. Although things aren't as cut and dried as it might seem, and you'll probably find yourself backtracking to re-read parts in order to catch the clues sprinkled throughout that you probably overlooked.  It is for this reason that I would HIGHLY recommend that you not read the comments first, since they contain spoilers that may decrease your enjoyment of the story.

Buthal is a giant whose reckless actions have placed a curse on his entire race. This curse involves having the giant's heart and a human's interchanged; the giant must then spend his entire existence, extending throughout many lifetimes, searching for his heart. He cannot rest, find relief or redemption until he finds it.
