Author's summary: “Reflection”, inspired by another of Afrogeekgoddess’ awesome fanfics: After Death. It was both fun and a challenge to draw Sherlock in this state, for various reasons :D.
Reccer's comments: This is Khorazir's illustration of a powerful and ultimately terrifying scene in AfroGeekGoddess's harrowing depiction of Sherlock's life after the Fall. The contrast of the three faces in the mirror is striking: the potent malice of Moriarty's eyes, John's mild gaze, and the weariness and fear in Sherlock's face as he realizes what he is seeing. The details in this drawing evoke the story so well, from the dingy, rundown hotel bathroom to Sherlock's wounds, beard, and prominent cheekbones.

The scene that is illustrated:
As he stares at his fractured face, his mind shatters into pieces, fragments of his heart cutting the inside of his skin. His face in the mirror cracks apart into sharp shards, two faces staring back at him:

Moriarty, his greasy black eyes suddenly pearl grey, lit by a silver sun at the center of him. Moriarty's voice, crawling over his skin, mauling his lips: I see you, Sherlock. Your barren heart. We were made for each other. You and me. You're mine. You're me. Moriarty's teeth glisten, wet with delight.

John, safe John, good John, his eyes a gentle, patient blue, his voice like warm honey and sweet milk and hot tea and everything soft and steady. I see you, Sherlock. You're not like him. You are my hero. You have a heart. You are human. You are kind. John smiles, his gaze strong and loyal, and he grabs onto John's voice like a lifeline (remember remember remember).

The layers overlap in a terrible, sickening melody, Moriarty's mocking singsong warring with John's stable warmth, slowly overtaking it—

Fic Rec: Easier by Moonlight

Author's summary: Mycroft Holmes is a werewolf, and he has a new friend.

Reccer's comments: This is a story about werewolves, but it is also a story about relationships. We have Mycroft's POV which is slightly less enigmatic/antagonistic than in the tv show, which allows for a gentle telling about him coming to grips when something in his life changes. John only has two appearances in this fic, but he is as awesome and hilarious as usual ("Shut up, Sherlock! I just asked if your brother was having puppies! Oh god!") I actually ended up feeling sympathy for Sherlock, as you can almost feel his hurt and frustration of not being a wolf. As well we have Anthea as a PA/minder! Nicely written with a story that seemlessly combines good characterizations of the BBC characters as well as interesting "werewolf world-building". This fic will leave you feeling fuzzy by the end!

Excerpt: Mycroft never really trusted his memory of events during the full moon. As the brain changed its shape, so did it change its function; his memories as a wolf must be filtered through his human understanding, and vice versa. Therefore, his memories were interpretations, and not strictly true.

But there was no doubt that this interpretation was accurate: there had been another wolf.

Reccer's comments: There don't seem to be many ACD 'verse art recs here, so I thought I'd remedy the situation with the unbelievable genius of Ghost Bees. Even if you don't recognize the name, I'm 100% sure you've seen some of this incredibly talented artist's work floating around the net. These three comics are only a few of my favorites...and if you are able to stop browsing his tumblr after seeing them, then you have far more self-control than I can ever hope to have. : )
