Reccer's Comments: Spoilers for all of series two. There is no special story to this video apart from the three episodes themselves, and it does not focus on a particular character or pairing. However, this is a highly skilled vidder at their best.

The energy in this video just keeps coming. The scenes are edited to match the heavy beat of the music with razor-sharp precision. The vidder uses quick cuts and stuttered cuts (where a single scene has just a few intermediate frames cut out, to give the effect of a 'stutter' in the motion) to keep everything moving forward, but it never ends up feeling jerky, disjointed, or disorienting. The addition of effects such as overlays of multiple scenes on top of each other, text, and animation, adds layers of nuance and meaning so that you'll want to watch this more than once to catch everything. Finally, the use of filters for much of the video gives the images a texture and atmosphere that makes them seem new, even though we've seen them dozens of times already (if you're like me, at least, and have re-watched all the episodes multiple times!).

Title: Strange Game (Series)
Author: eight_demands
Pairing: John Watson/Sherlock Holmes, Greg Lestrade/Mycroft Holmes
Length: 30 165 words
Rating: M
Verse: Sherlock BBC, AU (vampires)

Strange Game: John is a soldier in the war against vampires. A vampire happens to be his newest patient.

Not For Nothing: Sherlock and John experiment with feeding.

The Second Law of Thermodynamics: Greg and Mycroft negotiate their relationship.

Reccer's comments: This series consists of one long and somewhat plotty fic and two shorter asides (timestamps if you will). I like this fic because it is a decently written vampire fic, which has good world building without being too "in your face". The story is chiefly about the characters involved- the fact that some of them happen to be vampires is (almost) incidental. While it is clearly an AU, with key facts about the world altered, and the characters have different back-stories, the fic still comes together nicely and has a real feel of the BBC Sherlock. Also, this fic begins in a certain manner, and even though there is no big twist or anything, it seems to go in a direction you didn't entirely anticipate, which makes for interesting reading!

Excerpt The vampire still didn't move as he stepped further away, any fascination he felt completely dwarfed by the fearful need to put distance between them. John backed up until he had nearly crossed the room. The vampire seemed far more in control of his faculties than John had imagined he would be, which was a thoroughly frightening thought indeed. John had no idea how he was going to get close enough to drug him without getting killed for his trouble.

The vampire had refocused on him and was watching him with an intensity that was unsettling to say the least.

He looked back and let the silence stretch out, becoming uncomfortable. He fell back to politeness. Politeness he understood and could do. "Would you like some tea? Or, or some blood?"
