Title: John and Sherlock Make a Baby (From Stuff They Find Around the Flat)
Authors: Phosfate, Rosencrantz
Pairing: John Watson/Sherlock Holmes (maybe)
Length:
 2,484
Rating: T+
Verse: BBC Sherlock
Author's Summary: Jesus Christ, it's a babyfic - GET IN THE CAR. Also wrong-headedness, slurs against the Irish, general creepiness, and a roofie joke.

Reccer's Comments: I decide to stick with the kidfic theme of my previous rec, but at the same time put forward something different.   Very, very different.   It’s crack.  Utterly wonderful crack.  Somehow totally believable and absurd at the same time.  There’s dark comedy and deadpan delivery and a creepy Torchwood: Children of Earth reference.  Warning:  Do not attempt to consume beverages while reading.

Pairing: Gen, Mor/Mor if you squint
Length: 4390
Rating: T+
Warnings: None
Verse: BBC Sherlock
Author's summary: She works for them – with them – both, and they each offer her countless opportunities. For Jim, she’s a gunhand and something like a friend, for Mycroft, she’s a brain, a processor, and occasionally a useful pretty face. This arrangement works fine until Jim has to go and do something stupid.
Reccer's comments: I'm actually more than a little obsessed with Anthea, the idea of her. I also love all of lbmisscharlie's work, and this was written in the twilight between series 1 and 2. Bandit Queen is set before ASiP and up through TGG. Most of the violence is implied or referenced vaguely. This fic may have been Jossed by series 2. . .OR WAS IT?

Anthea's past and role is explored here, being employed by both Jim and Mycroft. This is one of my favorite "_____ is actually Moran all along" theory fanfiction. lbmisscharlie has a way of creating a fleshed out AU that has you believing in it entirely.
Excerpt

"That, my dear, is why you will work for me.” The words, stated mildly, were nonetheless forceful. “Because I can offer you outlets for your skills, but more importantly, I can offer you bigger challenges and better tools."
He left her at her own doorstep with a phone number, carefully hand written on the back of an old-fashioned calling card. Mycroft Holmes, it said, dense, heavy embossing, and she has always liked those who refuse to hide behind aliases.
Ironic, that. Her own life has been little more than one mask after another for a decade.

Title: Heartstone
Author: Sabulana
Pairing: Gen., can be read as Sherlock Holmes/John Watson
Length: 9448 words
Rating: M
Verse: Sherlock BBC, AU
Author's summary: A heartstone is a very personal thing. They're meant to be kept close, guarded, treasured until you meet someone worthy of giving it to. Sherlock has ignored his since childhood, not willing to admit he has one much less give it away until something happens to make him reconsider.

Reccer's comments: I've read one or two other fics with this premise, and for some reason it never gets old. This is not a case-fic at all, and despite focusing primarily on the AU aspect, it is very clearly a slice of life in the BBC Sherlock world. It's great at quietly looking at the relationships between Sherlock and the most important people in his life; and the AU is well explained, without being too info-heavy. A well-contained, well-built and gentle one-shot.

Excerpt: “Do I have to have a reason for everything?” Sherlock asked innocently.

“Since it’s you, then yes. What’s going-“ John fell silent, coming back into the living room. His gaze fell on the coffee table and the box resting on it. “Sherlock, is that what I think it is?”

“If you think it is your heart box, then you would be correct,” Sherlock replied. He closed his magazine and tossed it to one side.

“What is it doing on the coffee table?” John asked stiffly. Sherlock could see he was trying to control his anger and sat up to explain himself properly.

“I wanted to see it again and touch it,” he said.
