Title: Hunger Pangs
Author: keelywolfe
Pairing: Martin Crieff/John Watson
Length: 3,694
Rating: Mature
Verse: Sherlock BBC

Author's summary: It'd been years since Martin had been that desperate, desperate enough to consider just what he would do to get a bit of money. Set after 'The Reichenbach Fall'.

Reccer's comments:   There are a lot of great Cabin Pressure/Sherlock crossovers out there that play on the physical resemblance between Martin and Sherlock, but this is my heartbreakingly favorite.  For those unfamiliar, Cabin Pressure is a radio series about a private air charter company, and the captain of the plane, Martin Crieff, is played by Benedict Cumberbatch.   He is willing to work for free as long as he’s captain, and earns his living money between flights by running a van delivery service.  But what happens when there is a lull in removals?  This story features absolutely beautiful writing, and the characterization for both Martin and John are perfect.  Don’t be surprised if you end up tearing up by the end.

That was LOVELY! I haven't heard Cabin Pressure yet, and your description of it was so sweet (he flies for free as long as he's Captain, awwww), it really helped me understand what Martin is like. The rest just all fell into place. Yes, total choke-up time.

Now I've heard all the episodes through season 4 and I have a new fandom. I LOVE CP! I love Martin Crief (and everyone else, frankly).
Also, I love this story so much that I go back and read it every month or so, and it even made me write my own ficlet in response. Awesome. Thanks so much for reccing this story. It loses nothing on rereading, it only gets better.

This has to be one of my favourite crossovers between these two fandoms that isn't fluff, and is actually leaning into quite a dark space. Great choice.

Great rec! I loved this fic and had it on my to-rec list myself, but thanks for scooping me - it deserves recognition * now.*
