Reccer's comments: The author has somehow managed to write kidfic, and place it so neatly in canon that it absolutely fits without any need to lean towards AU. A believable encounter between a young John and Sherlock, both alone in the park one sunny day. They are absolutely themselves, beginning to form the characteristics we know so well. It feels right that while this day is a bit of a formative event for them, their adult selves don't fully remember or make the connection. Moments of sweet and adorable and make-your-cheeks-hurt-from-grinning, but some very real more serious issues going on around them as well. Basically, the perfect kidfic even for people who hate kidfic. Give it a try.

This is why I love a rec community. There is no way that I ever would have picked that story out of the thousands available to read. Kid!fic isn't my usual fare and so it's nice to read a good one. Thanks for the rec!
