Art Rec: Sherlock Seasons
Jun. 20th, 2012 08:52 pmTitle: Sherlock Seasons
Author:
karadin
Characters: Sherlock, John, Mycroft, Lestrade (Gen)
Length: 4 art panels
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Verse: BBC Sherlock
Author's summary: These images were created for a large poster print as a calendar, but I've made each into an individual print. Mycroft, Lestrade, Sherlock and John are each located in a particular part of London, with trees and flowers in each image corresponding to the Victorian language of Flowers.
Reccer's comments: Karadin is an amazing, amazing artist who has a beautiful portfolio of Sherlock Holmes art. (There are links to her galleries and shops on her LJ). This particular set consists of four matching panels in her signature Art Deco style. They were originally one large calendar, but are now available separately. The likenesses to the actors who depict each character are striking, and their gentle expressions together with the proffered flowers make these images playfully romantic. What is so special about these, aside from the gorgeousness of the images themselves, is the extra level of detail and meaning woven into each image, in the form of a flower, a tree, and a location that relate specifically to each character. Make sure to click through to the full size of each separate panel and read the text at the bottom to discover the meanings of the symbols.
