Apr. 26th, 2012 10:32 amTitle: Five Years Prior
Author: feverishsea
Pairing: Sherlock/John
Length: 19153 words
Rating: Teen to Mature
Warnings: None
Verse: BBC Sherlock
Author's summary: John and Sherlock meet five years earlier, when both of them are a little bit younger and a little bit softer. It doesn't necessarily make things any easier.
Reccer's comments: words fail me.
while i wouldn't call this fluff (nor would call it angst) it is utimately an adorable fic. lestrade's point of view gives an almost comedic look at sherlock and john's relationship. while at the same time makes you feel sorry for the DI because he has to put up with everyone's favourite sociopath.

Date: 2012-04-26 09:08 pm (UTC)I am not usually one for Lestrade PoV, but this fic really sold me on it. I loved how Lestrade has dissonance with Sherlock--he doesn't really understand Sherlock, even finds him unsettling, but knows he has to use him. Once John enters and somehow gets along with Sherlock, it's interesting to see it from Lestrade's PoV.
Sherlock's addiction to drugs was excruciating to read and intensely depressing; it felt very realistic. John entering the picture did not magically fix him, there were still a lot of underlying problems.
Sally is great in this fic. She's less bitter here and even tries to get along with Sherlock. I always appreciate people having her in a positive role.
This is angsty, tense, and sweet (but not overly so) in turns. The author does a great job of deftly painting the passage of time with a few lines and building up the emotional intensity. Excellent fic.
