God, the feelings. John is so stoic and strong and broken, but still soldiering on. And Sherlock. Sherlock is confused and frightened and determined to make things right, but mucking everything up in the process and so damn lost at the idea of having to face a life without John there by his side. There is angst and sadness and the less than pleasant realities of growing old, but there is also wonder and joy and the happiness that only a life time spent with someone can bring. Read it now, people. You won't be sorry you did.

Wonderful. The thing that has kept people's interest for so many years (in my opinion) is the partnership between Holmes and Watson. This is a nice view of how it might play out in later years.
