Title: The 15:06 to Totnes
Author: [livejournal.com profile] trillsabells
Pairing: Gen
Length: < 1200, although half that is "Message Received"
Author's summary: Sherlock has a train to catch but John has to work. This is not acceptable.
Rating:PG
Warnings:None
Verse: Sherlock BBC

Reccer's comments: Sometimes you want to read a deep, soul-searing, novel length character study. And sometimes, you really just need a giggle. This text fic will definitely deliver the giggle.

Brief and slightly cracky, but also completely believable. The author uses the texting format especially well, painting a vivid mental image even without descriptive language. It's short. It's fun. It's completely adorable.

I love how the fact that Sherlock the series relies a lot on text messages has meant we've got a lot of mini-epistolary fic like this and "The Shape I Found You In", not to mention that fic (ISTR it's only on the meme) where Sherlock discovers Twitter.

And I think we need a content: texting tag now.

I guess you could expand to content: epistolary, since canon-verse or Ritchie-verse might come up with some letter or telegram-based fiction yet...

Could add, if recs are made. I see a difference in the two media of exchange, however, and in the special relationship texting has to the BBC show, as you've mentioned.

There are certainly quite a few good epistolary and telegram fics in canon-verse available to rec.

Try the archives at [livejournal.com profile] cox_and_co, [livejournal.com profile] janeturenne did one not so long ago and I recall a wonderful art-and-text one, can't recall the authors but it was a collaboration iirc
