Reccer's comments: The feelings I have for this fic are beyond words. It was my very, very first fic in this fandom and I can't believe how extremely lucky I am to be able to say that because yeah. It's amazing. So wonderfully well written with all the emotional resonance one could wish for. Watson is strong, stoic and long suffering, loving his Holmes in silence for fear of losing what means the most to him. Holmes is detached, capricious and unthinkingly cruel, but cares just as deeply for his Watson. Be prepared to get completely sucked in and then blown away while reading it. Your heart will ache, but you'll love it. Trust me, you will love it.

Snippet: "Watson," he said patiently, and I could feel the warmth of his breath against my eyelids, "you do know what I mean, and you would confer a very great honour upon me by telling me what happened between the time we entered the sitting room and the time I came out of the bedroom."

"Holmes," I replied, the fear making me sound more cross than I meant to, "even if something had happened, it is not like you to force a confidence."

He raised one hand so that it rested against the side of my face as he ran a thumb gently over my brow. I felt a slight shiver pass through me at the touch, so gentle was its character. "I am going to ask you one more time," he said. "What is wrong?"

"Nothing," I whispered.

"Watson, please."

Well, I've read it, and I really did love it. I'll admit that I hadn't realized it was a fanfic of the original stories, but that was a pleasant surprise.

So elegantly written, beautifully captured the tone of ACD's writing, and quite moving as well. Thank you!
