Author's summary: This is a fill for an AWESOME prompt at shkinkmeme; both the prompt and the fill thread can be found here. Their are separate summaries for each chapter, but chapter 1 has the summary: John Watson is a med student, a war veteran, and, by and large, a fairly sensible person. He had every chance to run.

Reccer's comments: So far, this is my favourite podfic and it'll take a lot to displace it. This is not a fic I would have naturally decided to read, which only makes it all the more fantastic. The story is windy and wonderful and praise-worthy and funny and sexy all of its own, with it's wonderfully messed up Holmes and Watson in a modern-day guise, fully aware of how much they resemble their name-sakes, but speccygeekgrrl really brings it to life with so much expression. I couldn't stop listening. And there is over FOUR and a HALF HOURS of this fabulous podfic to listen to and it never at any point lost my interest and speccygeekgrrl never faltered in her marvellous reading. The first person pov lends itself so wonderfully to audio, drunk!Holmes actually made me spit my tea from laughing (around about 1:16:00 mark for those interested) for it's realism and PTSD!Watson made my heart tug from the emotion in her voice and just... *flail* I'm not good at expressing myself in rec posts, but I hope you all get the idea. This one is totally worth downloading and keeping forever!

Oh damn, you're probably right. I always thought it was the 2009 universe, because it just sounds like them. Twas all in my head though, as she never explicitly said it was the movie, sorry!

You could be completely right; no need to apologise. I haven't a clue. I certainly dled the podfic thinking it was a 2009 movie podfic and then got mighty confused until I realised it was... something else. So maybe that's how it was billed. We'll have to ask the author one day. :)

She's got it tagged as both '09 verse and under the general Sherlock Holmes tag on A03, so I'm guessing '09 was her starting point/inspiration.
