Title: He’ll have to bust out of the hospital.
Artist: barachiki
Pairing: none
Rating: gen
Warnings: none
Verse: BBC Sherlock

Reccer's comments: Whenever I’m in need of a giggle to light up my day I visit barachiki in hopes of some silliness and nine times out of ten she provides. I’m addicted to her knit!lock verse, a whole treasure trove of manips in which Sherlock is perhaps the world’s only consulting detective but first and foremost the world’s only knitting detective. Even when recuperating from a shot wound he’s busy contemplating yarns and patterns. Isn’t he lucky to have acquired a flatmate with a great taste in jumpers? He can’t crochet, though, and that really annoys him.

Apart from the fun I think this manip is executed beautifully as well. The arms, the hands, it all looks totally convincing. To me, at least.

*squee!!!* Thank you for reccing barachiki, they are a genius of crack. Not just the manips themselves but the captions and tags on their posts. Top notch stuff.

I love her knitting Sherlock! And he knits English, too (well, in most of them). Telling, that.

There are variations, but the two basic ways of holding yarn and making a stitch are English and Continental (European). Her moving gifs actually show both, but more often English (my mother knits Continental and I knit English; I think English is slower, but I can't break the habit). Google has lots of links to vids and arguments and explanations.

ETA: I don't know, it makes him kind of homely and endearing, rather than rational and efficient. To me, anyway.
