Beautiful piece! Really, this is a pairing I never would have imagined, but there's something really playful and sweet and beautiful here.
I think the appeal is something along the lines of why some fic authors are drawn to write drabbles or 221b's. Having to work within that constraint pushes you to go somewhere you never would have, and the results can be quite interesting. Not just in the sense of "for just a hundred words that's quite a story" but in the sense that "what an interesting way to frame that! I'm glad I read this, and not just because it meets that goal.
Regardless of what we think about the challenge in general, I agree that that's a really stunning piece of art.
