Art Rec: Perhaps There Was Something in the Punch
Title: Perhaps There Was Something in the Punch
Artist: Raiecha @ dA
Characters: Mycroft (Gen)
Rating: Not rated, but completely SFW
Warnings: None
Verse: BBC
Author's summary: Sherlock Fan-art, References taken from ‘His Last Vow.’
Reccer's comments: Hello perfect artist, where have you been my whole fanlife? Can we rave about this picture for a while? I am a huge sucker for light and shadow play, and this artist is a master of them. Look at Mycroft's forehead. Look at the wrinkles on his forehead. His entire face, in fact, is a study. You can practically see the tension and interplay of every muscle. Also, there are goldfish in his cigarette smoke. Goldfish! (It's a series 3 reference, but even if you haven't seen series 3 yet, the skill displayed in those strokes is phenomenal, how the fish are both insubstantial and 3-dimensional at the same time.) And then there's Mycroft's expression itself, which I see as a mix of startled wonder and smug knowingness. The whole piece is just delicious.
P.S. The artist's entire Sherlock gallery on dA is here. Revel.
