Art Rec: Perhaps There Was Something in the Punch

Title: Perhaps There Was Something in the Punch
Artist: Raiecha @ dA
Characters: Mycroft (Gen)
Rating: Not rated, but completely SFW
Warnings: None
Verse: BBC
Author's summary: Sherlock Fan-art, References taken from ‘His Last Vow.’
Reccer's comments: Hello perfect artist, where have you been my whole fanlife? Can we rave about this picture for a while? I am a huge sucker for light and shadow play, and this artist is a master of them. Look at Mycroft's forehead. Look at the wrinkles on his forehead. His entire face, in fact, is a study. You can practically see the tension and interplay of every muscle. Also, there are goldfish in his cigarette smoke. Goldfish! (It's a series 3 reference, but even if you haven't seen series 3 yet, the skill displayed in those strokes is phenomenal, how the fish are both insubstantial and 3-dimensional at the same time.) And then there's Mycroft's expression itself, which I see as a mix of startled wonder and smug knowingness. The whole piece is just delicious.

P.S. The artist's entire Sherlock gallery on dA is here. Revel.

Wonderful! Such an amazing study of his face, you're right. I know who I'm hoping will be his goldfish: Lestrade. I'm going to have to look at the rest of the artist's pieces. I see French waiter!Sherlock in the gallery. Love that.

As it's thematically similar I feel I should link this (http://tillieke.deviantart.com/art/Goldfish-431371894)beautiful piece.

This one's lovely, too, and the size of it just kind of makes me feel like Mycroft's fish is the EAST WIND, coming to get you! :)
