Title: Mercy Bears Richer Fruit
Author:
blacktablet
Pairing: Holmes/Watson
Length: 4,642 words
Rating: M
Warnings: aaangst!
Verse: ACD Books
Author's summary: We both knew perfectly well with whom he was sharing the sitting room that evening, and it was not the John Watson he had once known.
Reccer's comments: This fic was written to fill a kinkmeme prompt and what a job blacktablet did. It's not a feelgood tale for the Christmas season, no siree. It's one of the darkest and most beautiful fics I have ever read. There's no blood or torture, don't worry; nothing like that, but if you're not in tears by the end, you have a heart of stone.
Didn't you think that the scene in EMPT where Holmes reappears in John Watson's life after three years' absence felt a little, well, flat? Just how did the hiatus years affect Watson, anyway? Maybe just a tich more than ACD told us, do you think? Blacktablet fills us in with a - pardon me - vengeance.
The story grips you from the first sentence: Sherlock Holmes had always been, first and foremost, a man of justice. As things unfold, we get to see just exactly what that means.
