Reccer's Comments: I haven’t spent a lot of time exploring the Ritchie movie side of the fandom (though I know some excellent fanworks for that 'verse have been recc’d here before). But I like this vid because it showcases the way that, although their tone was often ridiculous, those movies nonetheless approached key elements of the canon with real heart.

In particular, I liked what they did with Reichenbach. Jared Harris provided my favorite version so far of Moriarty, the script made Holmes’s final problem very directly entwined with protecting Watson, and they resolved the storyline with a twist that freed Watson from years of unnecessary grief. All in all, it gave me far more than I was expecting and I enjoyed it a lot.

This vid focuses on the Holmes/Watson relationship, full of high emotion and quietly shared looks, ballroom dancing and the inescapable waterfall. I particularly enjoy the way the vidder has started at the end, as it were, and placed Watson's canonical last lines from The Final Problem as the prologue. Jude Law's reading of these words gets me every time.
