Title: Child Sherlock and John--Inventing!
Artist: [livejournal.com profile] pennies_4_eyes
Pairing: Gen
Rating: G
Warnings: none
Verse: Sherlock BBC

Author's summary: Here is an artfill for THIS prompt over at the Sherlock!BBC kink meme.

I wanted to capture them with a difference in age, John the older. So here we have a determined, focused Sherlock at age 7 (or so) with an older John watching out for him, first aid kit at the ready. They're in the attic at Sherlock's house where he has commandeered an old dressmaker's form to mount his (rather steampunk) flying machine on. THis was SO fun that I may do more from this headverse.

Poor Sherlock is a bit consternated, looking over his blueprint diagram. That's a screwdriver in his hand. I know. It's hard to tell.

Reccer's comments: Pennies-4-Eyes does outstanding adult!Sherlock/Holmes and John/Watson, so it's lovely to see how charming her child versions of John and Sherlock are. Both look like children (face and body-wise), adorable without being overly cute. The nods to their clothing on the series is a wonderful touch: John wearing an oatmeal sweater with a buttondown shirt, Sherlock in a white dress shirt, dark shorts, and loafers that suggest the attire of his adulthood.

Sherlock trying to invent mechanical wings touches on his twin devotions to science and adventure. The dangers in this project are hinted at with the plasters on his knee, elbow, and cheek, as well as the bandages wrapped around his wrist and fingers. The placement of John's first aid kit nearby, where he can swiftly render medical assistance, shows us that John knows his expertise will be needed again.

Sherlock's intent expression speaks of frustration as well as determination (somehow he will make those metal wings work!). John's face is calm but alert; I can believe he is ready for almost anything: mending Sherlock, or helping him get his creation off the ground, so to speak. Encapsulated in this image from an AU 'verse are their roles in canon: Sherlock completely dedicated to his Work to the detriment of his Transport and John the Healer and fellow Adventurer, believing that Sherlock will solve any problem before him.

Title: Untitled
Artist: archiaart
Pairing: Sherlock/John
Rating: Mature
Warnings: BDSM
Verse: Sherlock BBC
Author's summary: When I’m stressed by exams I like to take it out on John (:

Reccer's comments: This piece depicts a quiet, affectionate moment, apparently in the midst of a bdsm scene. I love the expressions you can read on both their faces, and how their postures speak of more importance to this exchange than simple sex.

If you like this, I recommend taking a browse through Archia’s other (NSFW) art on her Tumblr. Like this or this or this. There’s a lot of very well-done, very hot stuff. Go forth, browse, enjoy.

Title: Hidden Depths (hosted on the Sacrilege! anthology website)
Author: Susannah Shepherd
Pairing: Holmes/Watson
Length: 7160 words
Rating: NC-17
Warnings: None.
Verse: Books

Author's summary: Watson inadvertently lets slip that his war injuries are far more extensive and crippling than he has formerly admitted. Holmes encourages him to confront his fears and find new hope.

Reccer's comments: I read this story back when I was discovering Holmes/Watson fanfiction and was struck by the mix of delicacy and realism on the author's part. They did a wonderful job with voices and tone, notably at the beginning: that Holmes discovers the true nature of Watson's wound not through deducing, but because of ill-applied levity and sarcasm felt very much in character. The author's choice to show Watson as entirely straight makes his trust in Holmes, along with his decision to test his own limits by letting Holmes accede that most intimate secret, all the more...touching, indeed. The reader will find no Healing Cock trope here, no miraculous conversion, merely an open ending - all judicious choices to me. The bittersweet, yet profoundly tender atmosphere of the whole piece gives it a very special charm and makes it one of my favourite h/c fics.
