Title: Beneath the Stains
Author: AfroGeekGoddess
Pairing: Gen
Length: 383
Rating: G
Warnings: None
Verse: Sherlock BBC
Author's summary: Lost and alone after being invalided to London, John remembers his army life with a special tattoo. Warnings for references to tattoos, blood, needles, war violence.
Reccer's comments: "With every swirling slice of ink, the exquisite, aching tendrils shoot deeper into his skin, touch his nerves, spark his memories: the shocking split of gun fire, rending his body in two; his own blood in the gritty grass; the crack of his voice calling out for God; the fever that burned his body for days; and all though it, the violent thrum of his heart, red and wet and throbbing with life."
I love stories that manage to say so much in so few words. The last line gets me every time I read it.
