Reccer's comments: The end of "Paint It Black" (Elementary 2x22) left many a fan unsatisfied (Captain Gregson and Detective Bell never find out Joan was kidnapped! Joan is not comforted after her rescue, particuarly given that yet another person died in her care!) and prompted several fics. This is one of the ones I'm recommending this month. A very simple, yet effective, one-shot with Joan and Bell, together.
