Title: That Bodiless Voice
Author: cassyl
Pairing: Irene Adler/Molly Hooper
Length: 4107
Rating: Explicit
Warnings: none
Verse: Sherlock (BBC)
Author's summary: Molly's never seen Irene Adler in person. She has, however, spoken to her on the phone.

Reccer's comments: As much as I want to rec and rec my old favorites, I've made a promise to myself to try to keep on top of the wave for Hiatus 3.0 this month, so I've been skimming new BBC Sherlock fic as it comes out. I'm also trying to pay attention to pairings that don't normally catch my eye. This fic is one of the happy reasons why.

The action here is no more than middlin' dirty, yet I felt stripped blushingly naked by Molly's obedient self-exploration and her willing vulnerability to a smooth, indulgent Irene who is confident in her calling. Great blend of just enough observation and exposition to flesh out a unique scene, just enough tactile and emotional observation to get me involved, and just enough OMG-what-about-the-neighbors, without authorial self-indulgence. Very wet, very hot.

Series Title: Simple Mathematics
Author: thesardine
Pairing: None
Length: 5,306 words
Rating: PG
Warnings: None
Verse: Sherlock BBC
Author's summary: For Tesselation - John is introduced to the unexpectedly numerous Holmes siblings.
For Coefficient - John and Sherlock circuitously examine the options and the nature of their relationship.

Reccer's comments: Oh, hell, I'll indulge myself with old favorites tonight. Bedtime snacks.

I think this was intended to be a longer series, but after three years I don't expect it will be continued. That's a shame - of thesardine's deeply engaging variations on John and Sherlock, the version in this pair of stories is closest to my own reading of the canon characters through S2, portrayed with verve and charm. Surely all of thesardine's work will eventually be recced here, but it's been a while and I hate to let it languish. I claim these less-widely-read but sparkling little gems.

"Tesselation" is a tightly written character study staged around a birthday party for the Holmes matriarch. The Holmes siblings as seen through the eyes of an increasingly-bemused Watson. Not only unexpectedly numerous but perfectly hilarious and aptly named, each sheds their own light on the youngest brother.

"Coefficient" can be summarized thus: John tries to get laid, Sherlock tries to interfere, and they come to an understanding. Baignard only helps a little.
