Hi, all.
We wanted to add guidelines for "meta" recs to the main information and guidelines post, but LJ is blocking us both from the account right now. While we try to fix this, here's the definition from fanlore:
"Meta is a term used in fandom, particularly LiveJournal-based fandom, to describe a discussion of fanworks of all kinds, fan work in relation to the source text, fanfiction characters and their motivation and psychology, fan behavior, or fandom itself.
Meta or a meta essay can also be a fan-authored piece of non-fiction writing that discusses any of the above topics."
Discussion and analysis and fan-authorship are the main elements of meta for reccing purposes here. Analysis of the fictional characters and the settings of canon we consider meta.
For this comm, recaps, reviews, rec lists, writing resources (historical, social, technical, Britpicking, etc. fact only posts), and production information for TV or film versions are not eligible for recs.
We appreciate all the meta recs that have been made, and apologize for not putting up guidelines when the new category was introduced. Thanks!
