The Keeper of Things by myswordfishmind

Author’s Summary: Sherlock, now an eighty-seven year old man, tends to his bees whilst thinking about the life, and the man, that has lead him to this place and time.

Reccer's comments: How can I sing the praises of this fic enough? It’s flat out romantic and lyrical and made me cry. (But in a cathartic and refreshing way, not in a I-can’t-stand-the angst-any-longer way. Yes, there is a character death in here, but that is not the focus and shouldn’t dissuade you.) Told non-sequentially, the story of their relationship unfolds through Sherlock’s memory. Completely in-character, it includes Sherlock’s passion for bees, an ocean holiday, the aftermath of a dangerous case, an insecure Sherlock, Mycroft and the issues of caring, and of course hot sex and one of the most romantic John love lines I’ve ever read. It’s one thing to tell a first time love story and quite another thing to recognize how that love grows and stands the test of time. For personal reasons, this story very much resonated with me. Just a standout read.
