Work Safe!

I've done it again--I started to read a WIP and got hooked! I'm doing these paintings to try to bribe the author to keep working on it so I can find out what happens. :-) These paintings are for for Velvet Mace's story Chameleon. It's an AU fusion based in a GDP type Sentinel/Guide universe. Sherlock is a Sentinel and John is a reluctant Guide. Each one has their own Spirit Animal incorporated into the painting.

Reccer's comments: As the artist states, this art is based on Velvet_Mace's fic Chameleon. These are portraits of Sherlock and John with their respective Spirit Animals. John's is a chameleon, Sherlock's is an owl. These portrayals capture the pure essence of our beloved characters; the details, especially in the faces, are amazing. John looks just like the competent doctor he is, and the expression on his face borders on amusement, a classic John Watson look. And Sherlock gives us his signature gaze that cuts right through you with his piercing eyes. And the animals are just wonderful.

Check out the artist's other work, as well!

Title: Observations from 221A
Author: azriona
Pairing: Gen
Length: 3769 words
Rating: General audiences
Verse: Sherlock BBC
Author's summary: Female, age 67, Widowed, London, retired seamstress and landlady. It's not what she sees, it's what she observes that counts.
Reccer's comments: I first read this when it was posted anonymously over at the sherlockbbc commfest exchange, and have re-read it several times since. It's a story told in the format of a questionnaire, which is a refreshing alternative writing style, and it just has the loveliest, funniest, most bittersweet and absolute spot-on character voice for our dear Mrs Hudson you'll ever read. The way Mrs H describes her life at Baker Street rings true to the smallest details; we get a few glimpses at her life pre-Sherlock, and her view on some of the things that happen in the canon time frame. The way she sees Sherlock and John is so full of a tangible affection I wanted to reach through the screen and hug all of them. The tone is witty and funny and warm, and just a little heart-breaking at times.
