Title: Games
Music Title & Artist: Video Games by Lana del Rey (ChaseManhattan's remix)
Vidder:
lolachrome
Pairing or Character: John and Sherlock, gen
Verse: Sherlock BBC
Link: http://johnsherlock.livejournal.com/591344.html
Reccer's Comments: This is a sharply put together exploration of John's attraction to danger. The quick edits and remixed music give a sense of how John is always just on the edge of things, trying desperately to hang on and keep up with Sherlock, and how he lives from moment to moment, always chasing the next rush. The video is incredibly cohesive despite the fast-paced switches from scene to scene, all suffused with a sense of unreality and dread beneath the excitement. And it's a really cool remix of the song, too.
The vidder has extensive notes on the video here, which include this insightful explanation:

At the heart of it, I was trying to get at the way John is drawn to dangerous games--to playing with the line between life and death, and to the place underneath logic where the irrational and death break through--and that all of this comes to him through Sherlock. And of course Sherlock too is drawn to dangerous games, perhaps even more so, with similar impetuses, and thus they're drawn inexorably to each other.
