Title: Not Nice
Author:
mildred_bobbin
Pairing: Mycroft Holmes/Greg Lestrade [background John/Sherlock]
Length: 15k words
Rating: NC-17
Warnings: none
Verse: Sherlock BBC
Author's summary: Part of the Inside Out series. From Inside Out:
"Did you know Greg Lestrade's bisexual?" said John suddenly.
"Yes," said Sherlock, concentrating on the feel of John's stubble on his fingertips. "He's got some strange arrangement with my brother. I try not to think about it."
This is what Sherlock was talking about.
Reccer's comments: This fic is a sequel to a charming first-time John/Sherlock fic, Inside Out. You don't have to read 'Inside Out' to enjoy this fic (I didn't originally), but it does provide a nice counterpoint. In the original fic, Sherlock says to John that Lestrade's relationship with Mycroft is "not nice, like us," hence the title, 'Not Nice', which I love. It's so evocative, and Mycroft and Lestrade's relationship is exactly that at first--not nice. Mycroft propositions Lestrade and they end up in a screwed up, fuck-buddy type relationship. Their liaisions always occur at Mycroft's behest and in his office. But it changes slowly and subtlely, the catalyst being Lestrade "cheating" on Mycroft with a woman. When they finally take the first steps toward a different kind of relationship, the tension is palpable. The author does a terrific job of 'showing, not telling' the excitment and joy of newly discovered and wholly unexpected love.
